Why is the Workplace Noise Awareness for Employees Course Important?

Noise-induced hearing loss is permanent. Unlike many workplace injuries, it accumulates silently over time — and by the time a worker notices the damage, it cannot be reversed. Industries with high ambient noise levels carry a significant exposure risk for workers who may spend years unaware their hearing is being affected. Tinnitus, hearing loss, and related conditions reduce quality of life both inside and outside of work, and organisations that fail to manage noise risks face serious consequences for worker wellbeing and regulatory standing.

Under New Zealand’s Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (HSWA), persons conducting a business or undertaking (PCBUs) must manage risks to worker health, including exposure to hazardous noise.
