This course covers how to recognise workplace noise hazards, understand their effects on health, and apply the right controls — including the correct selection and use of hearing protection — to reduce the risk of hearing damage. It is designed for managers working in environments where hazardous noise is a real and regular risk, including construction, manufacturing, transport, and industrial settings.
Built specifically for New Zealand workplaces, this course reflects local regulatory requirements and workplace expectations. On completion, participants receive an instant digital certificate confirming their understanding of noise risk management and their responsibilities under New Zealand health and safety law.
This course will take approximately 95 minutes to complete.
Why is the Workplace Noise Awareness for Managers Course Important?
Noise-induced hearing loss is one of the most common occupational health conditions in New Zealand — and one of the most preventable. Unlike many injuries, it builds gradually and without warning. By the time symptoms become obvious, the damage is already done. Managers in high-noise environments carry direct responsibility for identifying hazardous noise levels, putting controls in place, and making sure their teams have what they need to work safely.
Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (NZ), persons conducting a business or undertaking (PCBUs) must eliminate or minimise noise risks so far as is reasonably practicable.
