Why is the Privacy in the Workplace Topic Important?

In today’s data-driven workplaces, organisations routinely collect and manage sensitive personal information from employees, clients, and customers. Mishandling this data — even unintentionally — can lead to breaches, reputational damage, and significant financial penalties.

Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), employers are responsible for ensuring personal and employee records are collected, stored, and used appropriately. This course supports compliance by helping staff understand their obligations and apply privacy-conscious practices in daily operations.
