Safety for Children Training Course (AUS Version)

This course explores how to keep children safe, respected, and supported in organisational, community and institutional settings. You’ll examine your responsibilities as an individual, as well as how policies, culture and systems work together to prevent harm and promote children’s rights and wellbeing.
Through practical examples and scenarios, you’ll learn how to recognise risks, respond to concerns or abuse (including online harms), and contribute to child-safe, inclusive environments. On completion, learners receive an instant digital certificate suitable for Australian workplaces, community organisations and volunteer settings.

This course will take approximately 56 minutes to complete.
Why is the Safety for Children Course Important?
Every child has the right to safety, dignity and participation. Yet many roles – paid and volunteer – involve direct or indirect contact with children, often in busy or complex environments. Without clear expectations and confident staff, organisations can miss warning signs, respond poorly to concerns, or unintentionally create unsafe cultures.
In Australia, expectations have been strengthened through the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and state and territory Child Safe Standards, supported by findings from public inquiries and Royal Commissions into institutional responses to child abuse. These frameworks emphasise prevention, child-centred practice, and timely, effective responses to concerns, including online harms.
This course helps organisations translate those expectations into everyday practice, supporting safer environments, stronger cultures and clearer accountability for anyone working with or around children.
