Responding to Concerns and Complaints in Early Childhood Services Training Course (AUS Version)

$27.50 inc. GST

This course explores how early childhood education and care (ECEC) services in Australia can respond to concerns and complaints in a calm, professional and child-focused way. It unpacks what counts as a complaint, how to listen and respond effectively, and how to support families, children and staff when issues arise.

Through practical examples, scenarios and clear language, learners build confidence in having difficult conversations, de-escalating tension and following service procedures. The course is designed specifically for Australian early childhood services operating under the National Quality Framework and includes a completion certificate suitable for training and compliance records.

This course will take approximately 27 minutes to complete.

Why is the Responding to Concerns and Complaints in Early Childhood Services Topic Important?

Concerns and complaints are a normal part of working with families. Issues about communication, fees, safety, behaviour guidance or quality of care can quickly escalate if they are not handled well. Poorly managed complaints can damage relationships, increase stress for staff, and affect children’s experience of the service. Well-managed complaints, on the other hand, build trust, reduce conflict and show families that their voices are heard and valued.

Under the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, services must have processes for receiving and managing complaints, including record-keeping, timeframes and information for families. ACECQA’s guidance and the National Quality Standard (particularly Quality Areas 6 and 7) highlight the importance of open communication, transparent governance and continuous improvement in complaints handling.

This course helps your team meet these expectations by building consistent, practical skills for responding to concerns and complaints – strengthening family partnerships and supporting compliance at the same time.
