LGBTIQA+ Awareness Training Course (NZ Version)

$27.50 inc. GST

This course introduces learners to the terminology, concepts, and lived experiences that shape the LGBTIQA+ community — covering sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, and sexuality. Through real-world context and practical strategies, participants build the understanding needed to contribute to workplaces where every person is treated with respect and fairness.

Designed specifically for New Zealand workplaces, this course explores the challenges LGBTIQA+ people face at work, the statistics that make those challenges hard to ignore, and the concrete steps organisations can take to build genuinely inclusive environments. A digital certificate is issued on completion.

This course will take approximately 48 minutes to complete.

Why is LGBTIQA+ Awareness Training Important?

LGBTIQA+ people experience discrimination in New Zealand workplaces at rates that should concern any organisation serious about culture and conduct. Exclusion — whether deliberate or the result of poor awareness — drives disengagement, increases turnover, and creates environments where people cannot do their best work.

Under the Human Rights Act 1993 and the Employment Relations Act 2000, New Zealand employers have obligations to provide workplaces free from discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity. Failing to meet those obligations exposes organisations to complaints, legal consequences, and reputational damage.

This course gives employees and leaders the awareness and practical tools to meet those obligations — and to build workplaces that reflect the diversity of the communities they operate in.
