Neurodiversity Awareness Training Course (NZ Version)

$27.50 inc. GST

This course introduces the concept of neurodiversity and explores how people think, learn, and process information in different ways. Learners will gain practical understanding of common neurodivergent conditions in the workplace — including ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, and Tourette syndrome — along with the unique strengths neurodiverse employees bring and the challenges they may face. It also covers the legal protections that apply to neurodiverse workers in New Zealand.

Designed specifically for New Zealand workplaces, this course is suitable for all employees, managers, and leaders across every industry. On completion, learners receive an instant digital certificate to document their training.

This course will take approximately 55 minutes to complete.

Why is the Neurodiversity Awareness Training Important?

Neurodiverse employees can bring creativity, innovation, and distinctive problem-solving strengths to any team. But many face real barriers — to employment, career progression, and day-to-day inclusion — simply because their cognitive differences are not well understood by those around them. Without awareness, even well-intentioned managers and colleagues can inadvertently exclude, overlook, or disadvantage neurodivergent workers.

Under New Zealand’s Human Rights Act 1993, employers have a legal obligation not to discriminate against workers on the basis of disability, which includes neurodivergent conditions. The Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 also requires persons conducting a business or undertaking (PCBUs) to manage psychosocial risks — including those that arise when workers’ cognitive or neurological needs are not appropriately considered or accommodated.

This course builds the awareness and practical knowledge needed to reduce those risks, support reasonable adjustments, and create a workplace where neurodiverse employees can contribute and perform at their best.
